Types of Network Topology And Disadvantages and Kelebihanya
A computer network is built using a network topology. Not all network topologies suitable for use in a computer network. It was influenced of the resources will be used to build the network. Therefore, a network administrator must be careful in selecting a suitable topology for the network to be on him. In this post I review some of the common types of network topologies in use along with the advantages and disadvantages of each.

a. Bus topology

Bus topology is often also referred to as the backbone topology, where there is a coaxial cable that stretched then a few computers connected to the cable.

Bus topology advantages:
Layout simple cable so installation is relatively easy
Damage to the client computer will not affect the communication between other clients
• Save wired so installation cost is relatively cheaper
Addition and subtraction terminal can be done without interrupting the operation running.
Disadvantages bus topology:
If the main cable (bus) or backbone is broken then the communication fails
If the main cable is very long then the search becomes difficult disorder
The possibility of collision data (data collisions) when many clients who send a message and it will reduce the speed of communication.
Data security is not guaranteed
Required repeater for long distance

b. topology Ring

Ring topology is called because of its shape like a circle cincing. All computers in the network will be connected in a ring. The ring is almost the same function as the topology concenrator star at the center of the gathering of the lead from any computer connected.

Pros ring topology:
Can serve traffic flow data solid
Data streams flow faster because it can serve data from the left or the server kanandari
Trasmisi relatively simple data packets traveling in one direction only.
Disadvantages ring topology:
Damage to any of the media sender / terminal work to paralyze the entire network
Package the data must pass through every computer between the sender and the receiver, making it slower
Development of a network becomes more rigid due to the addition of the terminal or node becomes more difficult when the port sudahhabis.

c. Star topology

Star topology is called because of its shape like a star, a device called a concentrator can be a hub or switch to the center, where all the computers in the network is connected to the concentrator.

Advantages star topology:
Because each component is connected directly to the central node management made easy
Failure of communication easily traced.
Failure in one component / terminal does not affect the other terminal communication.
centralized control to facilitate the detection and fault isolation, and easy network management.
Disadvantages star topology:
Failure to control center (central node) cut off all communication
When used as a control center is the hub then the speed will be reduced in accordance with the addition of a computer, the more the slower.
wasteful in the use of cable
HUB conditions should remain in good condition, HUB damage resulting paralysis of all links in the network so that the computer can not communicate with each other.

 d. topology Tree
Tree topology is a generalization of development or bus topology. Transmission medium is a branching cable loop is not closed yet.

Tree topology advantages:
Allows for a network of point-to-point
Overcoming limitations in a star topology, which has limited the connection point hub.
Topology tree divides the entire network into more manageable parts
This tree topology has the advantage over able to reach greater distances to activate repeater owned by HUB.
Disadvantages tree topology:
• Since branching then needed a way to show where the data is sent, or to whom the transmission of data intended.
Need a mechanism to regulate the transmission of terminals in a network terminal.
The cables used to be a lot more so it requires careful planning in its settings, including the layout of the room.
HUB becomes a critical element.

e. Mesh topology

Mesh topology is a topology that does not have a rule in the connection. Due to the irregular communication failures becomes difficult to detect, and it is possible wasteful in the use of the transmission medium. each device every prrangkat connect directly to other devices on the network. As a result, the mesh topology each device can communicate directly with the target device (dedicated links).

Excess mesh topology:
• Able to communicate directly with the destination device.
Data can be sent directly to the destination computer without having to go through another computer faster. One link in particular used to communicate with computers on the go.
• Have a Robust properties, ie the event of disruption in the connection of computer A with computer B because of damage to the cable connections (links) between A and B, the disorder does not affect the connection of computer A to another computer.
Easy to process identification problems in the event of damage to connections between computers.
Disadvantages mesh topology:
Each device must have an I / O port. It took a lot of wires so it took a lot of cost.
Installation and configuration more difficult for computers to each other should be connected directly.
• The cost of a large excess untukmemelihara relationship
