 Art is the process from the beginning of man, and therefore a synonym of science. Today, the essence of art can be seen in the expression of human creativity. Art can also be interpreted with something man-made that an element of beauty.Art is very difficult to explain and difficult to assess, that each individual artist to choose their own rules and parameters that lead him or his office, can still be said that art is a process and a product of choosing a medium, and a set of rules for the use of the medium.A set of values ​​that determine what is appropriate to send it through the medium of expression, to convey both beliefs, ideas, sensations, and feelings in a way as effectively as possible to the medium. ASRI, established in 1950 which was originally developed into the status of Academy High School in 1968 under the name STSRI "ASRI". AMI was born in 1963 preceded School of Music Indonesia (SMIND) in 1952. While ASTI is a continuation of the Conservatory of Dance Indonesia (KONRI) which appeared in 1961. In 1973, three high school leaders agreed to form a higher education institution of art. And eventually formed the ISI in 1984.Initially ISI has three faculties, namely:Faculty of Arts (FK), which is a combination of elements of ASTI and AMI.Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) embodiment of STSRI "ASRI" and.Non Faculty of Arts Degree (FNGK) for educational programs Strata 0, the energy production / arts practitioner. Faculty was finally closed by decision of ISI rector in 1991.In 1993, the Faculty of Arts was renamed the Faculty of Performing Arts (FSP), Faculty of Art and Design dibah name to the Faculty of Arts (FSR).
